Title Tuesday: Raising a Young Modern-Day Princess

Welcome to  Title Tuesday, my favorite day of the week! This day is dedicated to book suggestions, news, cartoons, and reviews. I write this portion of my blog because I am a big believer in the motivational speaker Charlie Jones' quote which says, "You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” I try to meet as many new people as possible and to read everything I can. This is my way of sharing that information with you. You can see a visual summary of the books I have reviewed for both adults and children over on my Facebook page. If you are interested in understanding my rating system for books you can read my Book Review Explanation here and What I Believe here. If you want to check out what I am currently reading or what I want to read next, friend me on Goodreads!

Hello! In honor of my daughter's first birthday (ok, this post it a little late) I want to share a very special book with you called Raising a Young Modern-Day Princess: Growing the Fruit of the Spirit in Your Little Girl by by Doreen Hanna and Karen Whiting.

I am going to cut straight to the chase... I adored this book. I loved almost everything about it. After having two boys less than 16 months apart, I have lived in a world full of bugs, trucks, dirt, and sword battles. When our little girl came along I was unsure exactly of how best to foster her heart in a  way that honors and glorifies God. With all of the ridiculous influences (I'm looking at you Beyonce and Amy Schumer) out there for young women, what does it take to help a young girl be feminine, kind, and God honoring? Hanna and Whiting give honest real life example and simple explanations without mouse ears or consumerism. I absolutely LOVED at the end of each chapter where they had the "toolbox" portion for how a dad could help his little girl as she learns to be a godly woman.

Overall, I give Raising a Young Modern-Day Princess: Growing the Fruit of the Spirit in Your Little Girl by by Doreen Hanna and Karen Whiting a solid A+. If you have a young daughter, niece, or granddaughter this book would be incredibly useful. I would also recommend that anyone who regularly works with young girls (teachers, coaches...) take a look at this book and keep it available for ideas when a young girl is struggling while in your care.
