Title Tuesday: Standing Together

Welcome to  Title Tuesday, my favorite day of the week! This day is dedicated to book suggestions, news, cartoons, and reviews. I write this portion of my blog because I am a big believer in the motivational speaker Charlie Jones' quote which says, "You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” I try to meet as many new people as possible and to read everything I can. This is my way of sharing that information with you. You can see a visual summary of the books I have reviewed for both adults and children over on my Facebook page. If you are interested in understanding my rating system for books you can read my Book Review Explanation here and What I Believe here. If you want to check out what I am currently reading or what I want to read next, friend me on Goodreads!

As a military spouse, I am always hesitant to read accounts of other military stories, especially if my husband is TDY or deployed. For you nonmilitary it may sound silly, but military books, movies, and magazines can just be too much. It just makes me nervous and jittery about his assignment even if it is local.

This is why you may be as surprised as I was to be reviewing a book about a Marine injured on his fourth deployment. And yet on our PCS across the country this year I found myself reading Standing Together by Carlos R. and Rosemarie Evans from Kregel Publications.

I have to say that I enjoyed this book a great deal. Carlos Evens and his wife Rosemarie are truly incredible people. They are honest and don't pull any punches about the challenges. I also LOVE how heavily they lean on the Lord and give Him the glory for everything that they have survived and accomplished.

Fair warning, the chapter about their house absolutely brought me to tears.

I give Standing Together a solid A+. This book is so encouraging. I don't think there is a group that wouldn't benefit from reading Standing Together. I would recommend it for any military wife group especially.
