The Salute Seen Around the World. |
The photo is of a Ranger in the 3rd Ranger Battalion and his name is Josh Hargis. He was injured when a suicide bomber detonated her vest bomb during his teams mission in the Panjwai district of Afghanistan. You can read the full story here. Hargis was evacuated because of his injuries and the photo show him saluting his commander when he was presented with his Purple Heart. His wife originally posted the picture on her facebook.
This story captured my attention because I am amazed at the respect shown by this soldier. He is obviously injured and I can only imagine the pain that he must be in, and yet he follows through with his training and salutes his commander. In an age where disrespect is not only tolerated but encouraged, what an incredible role model this man could be to others!
Please take a moment today to pray for this soldier and all the men and women in harm's way to protect our freedom.
As a military wife with someone serving in Afghanistan, I thank you for posting this picture to remind us of the sacrifice and the honor of those serving! Bless you!!
