The Forgiven Former Feminist's Female Christian Role Model of the Day is... Katie Luther!
Katie Luther was born in Lippendorf, Germany in 1499. When Martin Luther began his teachings, many of the nuns in Katie's convent wanted to escape and live according to Luther's teachings. Luther helped to find homes, husbands and positions for all but Katie. Luther then married Katie himself. Luther himself credits Katie as giving his life order and structure. He called her the "morning star of Wittenburg becasue she woke up every day before 4:00 to tend to her chores.
So why is Katie Luther on my list? Katie managed to not only run a house and a ministry, but also to raise ten children (six biological and four adopted). Katie is a near perfect model of the Proverbs 31 Woman. The family that she and Martin Luther created has been a beacon of light as to how a family should operate for a half-century and will doubtless continue to be.
