I am so excited about today's book! I got this book in the mail on a Tuesday in June. I had finished it by Thursday morning and have re-read in twice since then. With that being said, let me introduce you to Reformation Women.
Reformation Women book takes you through the life and times of twelve women who lived through the Protestant Reformation and the impact that they had upon it. Even being a history major with a focus in Tudor history (the time of the Reformation) I had never heard of many of these women. Rebecca VanDoodewaard does an excellent job of telling the facts and the dates, but also displaying the bravery and tenacity of these women who dared to defy the Catholic Church. Through this book we learn that these women had their lives turned upside down in defense of our faith and yet they never wavered in their dedication to Christ. Reading about the determination and faithfulness of these women was inspiring. It was the work of women and men like these that made it possible for us to read the Bible for ourselves, not live underneath the shadow of mysticism, and break free from the corruption of Rome. Reformation Women brings their stories to life.
All in all, I give this book an A+. I highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys biographies, church history, or women's studies. It would also make an excellent addition to any homeschooling studying the Reformation.
