Christian Female Role Model of the Day: Elizabeth Bunyan

Welcome to my celebration of Women's History Month! You can read more about this month and why I am writing about admirable Christian women here. For now, let's jump in!

The Forgiven Former Feminist's Female Christian Role Model of the Day is...  Elizabeth Bunyan!

Elizabeth Bunyan was the wife of John Bunyan, the author of the book, Pilgrim's Progress. Bunyan was more than just his wife though, she was his advocate. John was imprisoned on multiple occasions and sometimes for long periods of time for preaching without a license. Elizabeth never gave up. She wrote letters, made appearances and spoke often on his behalf. She fought tirelessly to return her husband to their home, all the while taking care of their family. 

So why is Elizabeth Bunyan on my list? She is the perfect example of fighting for your man. I think of her strength to stand up to speak for her husband and I think of the warrior-judge Deborah. Her commitment to her husband and their mission is an inspiration to wives everywhere.
